Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By adding Persona to a Discord server, or by using any of its commands, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, remove the bot and stop using it. You must also comply with the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which take precedence over anything here.

2. What the service is

Persona is a Discord application that administers personality-typology questionnaires, stores your results, and provides an AI assistant that can discuss them. It is provided free of charge, with no subscription, advertising or in-app purchase.

3. Results are not advice

This matters more than anything else on this page.

• Results are not a medical, psychiatric, psychological or clinical assessment, and are not a diagnosis of any condition.
• Of the models offered, HEXACO and the Big Five have mainstream psychometric validity. The Enneagram, Socionics and Attitudinal Psyche are interpretive traditions, not validated instruments.
• The questionnaires in Persona are our own and are not validated. They are written to measure published constructs but have no established reliability, norms, or peer review, and are not the official instrument for any model. Treat every score as indicative, never as a measurement.
• The Dark Triad test measures ordinary personality traits on a normal-population scale. It is not a screen for any disorder, and a high score does not mean anyone is dangerous, disordered, or a bad person.
• You must not use results to make decisions about anyone's employment, education, healthcare, housing, custody, or safety — including your own.
• If you are struggling with your mental health, speak to a qualified professional. A Discord bot is not one.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to overload, spam or disrupt the service, or circumvent rate limits and usage quotas.
• Use automated means to submit test answers or generate results.
• Use the AI assistant to generate harassing, hateful, sexual, illegal or deliberately harmful content.
• Use results to harass, label, exclude or bully another person.
• Reverse-engineer, resell, rebrand or redistribute the service or its question banks.
• Misrepresent Persona's output as a professional or clinical assessment.

We may restrict or block access for anyone who breaks these rules, without notice.

5. Server administrators

If you add Persona to a server, you confirm you have permission to do so. Auto-roles are optional and off by default; if you enable them, you are responsible for how those roles are used in your community. Persona will only create or assign roles that its own role permits.

6. Availability

Persona is a free project run by one person. We make no uptime guarantee. We may change, suspend, limit or discontinue any part of it — including the AI features — at any time and without notice. Because AI model access is funded out of pocket, /ask has daily usage limits and may be temporarily unavailable once they're reached. Everything else keeps working.

7. Your content and data

Your answers and results remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store, process and display them to deliver the features you use. How that works is described in the Privacy Policy. You can export or delete everything at any time with /privacy.

8. Intellectual property

The Persona name, logo, question banks, scoring engine, written content and this website are the property of the operator and are protected by copyright. The underlying typology frameworks are third-party concepts and we claim no ownership of them. "Myers-Briggs" and "MBTI" are trademarks of The Myers-Briggs Company; Persona is not affiliated with, endorsed by or derived from them, and uses the generic term "16 Types".

9. Liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including decisions made on the basis of results. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the support server before taking effect. Continuing to use Persona after that means you accept the revised terms.
